The Wayland City Council shuffled positions to fill vacancies at their October meeting. Council member Chet Fort resigned his position on council in order to accept an appointment to mayor. The seat has been empty since the unexpected passing of Mayor Greg Rich on September 17th. Fort will serve as mayor through December 31st of 2021. The mayoral position will be on the November 21st, 2021 ballot. The person elected at that time will serve the duration of Rich’s original term, which was set to expire in 2023.
