Coming off of a bye week, the Sigourney-Keota football team did not miss a beat on Friday and rolled over Cardinal 49-0 in the second round of the class 1A playoffs.

It was slow going for awhile with the Cobras up 7-0 after one, but they exploded for four touchdowns in the second to take a 35-0 lead at the break and never looked back. Sam Sieren had a date with the end zone five times in this one finishing with 17 carries for 147 yards. Brady Duwa carried the rock five times for 74 yards and a score. Cade Molyneux recorded the other touchdown on the ground, completed all three of his passes for 15 yards, and led the defense with 9.5 tackles.

Head Coach Jared Jensen tells KCII Sports the defense and special teams set up the offense all night. “We had one of our better defensive games in this one and had really good special teams. Two blocked punts and two big punt returns set us up for great field position and when you start four drives in the redzone you know good things are happening. Everyone stepped up once again.”

The Cobras (8-0) advance to the round of 16 and host Beckman Catholic (6-2) on Friday. Listen to the entire Cobra playoff run on AM 1380 and FM 102.5 KCII.
