Ainsworth Opera House Volunteer Need

Kalona and Richmond Memorial Day Ceremonies

Richmond AmVets Post 107 will conduct Memorial Day Ceremonies Monday, May 30th at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona and the Richmond Cemeteries. The program at Kalona will be held at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument at 10:15 with the Mid-Prairie Marching band, Sons of AmVets Post 107, AmVets Ladies Auxilliary and Cub Scout Troop 234. Services will follow at the Richmond Catholic and Richmond Public Cemeteries that include the AmVets and Mid-Prairie groups.

Leon Beatty American Legion Post 29 Washington Memorial Day Program

The Leon Beatty American Legion Post 29 in Washington is hosting their annual Memorial Day Program Monday, May 30th at 10:30a.m. in Central Park on the square. Prior to the program in the park, there will be a short program at 8:30a.m. on the bridge over Crooked Creek on G38 or 250th Street honoring the Marines, Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.

Kalona Chamber of Commerce Byways Specialty Barn Tours

The Kalona Chamber of Commerce is hosting Byways Specialty Barn Tours during May. Each Wednesday and Saturday this month from 1-3p.m. tour guides will take patrons through the Kalona countryside, highlighting area landmark barns including the round and gambrel roof barns, bank barns and heritage farms. WACO Warrior Basketball Skills Camp

May 31 - June 3

The WACO Warriors will be hosting a basketball skills camp for those entering fourth through eighth grade from May 31st to June 3rd. Fourth through sixth grade boys will meet from 10:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. with girls of the same age from 2:30-4:30pm. Seventh and eighth grade boys will meet from 8-10a.m. with girls of the same age from 12:30-2:30p.m. All sessions will be held at the WACO High School Main Gym. Washington For Justice and Optimae Life Services Menstrual Health Donation Drive

Washington For Justice and Optimae Life Services are raising awareness for Menstrual Health Day, May 28th by holding a health donation drive all month. Donations will be distributed to The Lighthouse Center of Washington. They can be dropped off through May 31st in designated donation boxes at Optimae’s Washington Office 1415 W. 5th Street Suite C or the Washington Public Library 115 W. Washington Street.
