Amidst the wind and cold temperatures Thursday, the Mid-Prairie girls golf team hosted their annual 18-hole Golden Hawk Invitational at the Kalona Golf Course.

Mid-Prairie was third of nine competing teams with an overall score of 386. Tipton took the team title with a 371. The Golden Hawks had two finish in the top 10 with Abbi Patterson carding a 93 for fifth and Abby Statler a 94 for seventh. They both talked after the meet about their rounds. Patterson said “I felt like I had some improvement from my last couple of meets, but I still left some shots out there. I know I can play better, but overall I was pretty happy with how I played.” Statler added “Honestly when I was still out on the course I thought I shot a lot worse. I think I ended up playing pretty well especially with the weather conditions.  I was able to rebound after bad shots.”

Other scores for the Golden Hawks included Emma Mattes 98, Georgia Nisly 101, Amerah Rediger 127 and Kendra Schaefer 136. Mid-Prairie will next be in action Monday when they host Wilton.
