The Washington City Council has set a public hearing for the annual asphalt overlay project. 

The project outlines the milling and removal of 8,825 square yards of existing asphalt and installing a new surface. The work this year will include the 100-300 blocks of East 5th Street, the 100 block of West 5th Street, the 300-500 blocks of North Marion Avenue, the 100 block of West 3rd Street, the 100 block of East 3rd Street, and North Iowa Avenue from West 5th Street to the railroad tracks. 

The project is estimated to cost approximately $250,000.

The public hearing has been set to be held during the June 16th council meeting to approve the final plans and specifications and to consider bids received for the project. The bids will be opened by city staff on June 9th.
