The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team saw their season draw to a close this week in the opening round of the Class 2A District playoffs with a 2-1 loss at Fairfield.

The lead was the Golden Hawks in the first half with Matthew Troyer’s goal on a Peyton Fox assist. Mid-Prairie took that 1-0 advantage into the break. The second 40 minutes belonged to Fairfield as they equalized and ultimately won the contest with a pair of goals, one each from Lane Stever and Oliver Siemsen.

The Trojans won shots on goal 10-5 and corner kicks 5-3. With the win, Fairfield is 10-5-1 and advances to the second round Wednesday to face Solon. The Golden Hawks end their year at 4-9-3. Mid-Prairie says goodbye to three seniors, Matthew Troyer, Damian Vazquez and Peyton Fox.
