The Sigourney-Keota Cobras (5-4, 4-1) continue their playoff journey tonight on KCII as they are set to take on the No. 8 team in class 1A, the Beckman Catholic Trailblazers (8-1, 5-0) in Dyersville.

Both squads showed dominant performances in the first round, as Sigourney-Keota shut out the Interstate 35 Roadrunners 45-0 last Friday, while Beckman blazed past Jesup 63-13.

The Cobra offense was led in the regular season by junior tailback Ike Molyneux, but last week two new backs stepped up in his absence, as Blake Baker ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns while Landon Conrad ran for 60 yards and a score.

Cobra spinback Brayden Wood has heated up through the air in recent weeks, as he threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season.

Senior lineman Owen Menke sets the tone for SK’s offense, as he holds the class lead in pancakes with 46.

Defensively, the Cobra pass rushers are powered by Wells Clark, who’s racked up four of the team’s nine sacks on the year, while Blake Baker leads the charge against the rush with a team-high 8.5 tackles for loss.

On the season, the SK defense has also collected 15 takeaways.

For Beckman, running back duo Mack Wolfe and Jude Kramer power the offense, as the two have combined for 28 touchdowns and over 1300 yards on the year.

Cobra Head Coach Jared Jensen discussed how the SK defense will attack the potent duo, “Ultimately it comes down to, we don’t just have one guy out there making plays, we’ve got 11. Whether that’s three, four, five, six guys to the ball, we just have to get as many guys to the ball as possible.”

Quarterback Brady Gogel isn’t called on often in the Trailblazers’ scheme, averaging just ten passing attempts per game, but he’s highly efficient when he is, as he’s earned a 7-0 touchdown to interception ratio while averaging 16.7 yards per completion.

Jude Kramer is joined defensively by Julien Kramer at the helm of the Beckman defense. The Kramers have combined for 20.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks in 2025.

Tonight will be the second matchup in history between the Snakes and the Blazers, with the first matchup ending in an SK win in 2020.

The winner will take on the victor of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and three-time defending state champion Grundy Center with a trip to the UNI Dome on the line.

Coverage will begin on FM 106.1, the KCII1 app and kciiradio.com with the Area Game of the Week Pregame Show at 6:30 p.m., and kickoff will be live from Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville at 7.
