The Lone Tree Lions track team traveled to Belle Plaine Monday to compete in a Co-Ed Invite.
The Lone Tree boys finished third with a score of 96. Belle Plaine won the event with the score of 181. The Lions had three championships on the evening with Keenan Edwards winning the high jump with 5’8”. In the long jump, Brady Dauber won with a flying leap of 20-10.75. Casey Shalla muscled his way to a victory in the shot put with a throw of 43-07. Other top finishers for the Lions were Alberto Cortes second in the 3200, the 4×800 team of Brady Dauber, Harmon Miller, Keegan Edwards, and Brock Smith took second, and the distance medley team of Avery Knock, Dauber, Miller, and Brock Smith finished in third.
On the girls’ side, the Lions finished fifth out of eight teams, with a total score 70. Lisbon won the meet with 153 points. The Lions had one champion on the night; Natalie Patterson won the 3000 in a time of 12:58.49. Other top finishers for the Lions were Macie Bopp who finished second in the 400, 1500, and the 3000. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Chloe Jacque, Zoie Simonsen, Skylar Smith, and Maddie Jacque finished in second. Natalie Paterson took third in the 1500. Kailyn Pettit took third in the discus. Maddie Jacque leaped her way into third in the high jump.
Lone Tree next meet is at WACO on Thursday.
