Last year nearly 300,000 Iowans took part in the Healthiest State Walk and this year’s walk is this week. The Healthiest State Walk is being held Wednesday. There are walks scheduled in Washington County, including a community walk in Kalona at noon.

This year Iowa’s initiative is partnering with the State Fire Marshal Division as this week is also fire prevention week. So far this year, 18 people have died in Iowa in fires, last year there were 42 fire fatalities
