Lincoln Elementary School in Washington celebrated an achievement in school performance l with staff.

Bill Poock from Grant Wood Area Education Agency stopped by the school last week to congratulate the Lincoln team. Lincoln has officially moved from acceptable to commendable on the Iowa School Performance Profile.

The Iowa School Performance Profiles is an online tool showing how public schools performed on required measures. For overall performance, Lincoln Elementary has hit 62 percent, and that has put them into the commendable range. The state average is 63 percent. The previous year they were at 57 percent.

Iowa’s state plan for school accountability and support under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) unifies Iowa’s school accountability systems. It maintains a focus on school accountability, reflecting high expectations for all students, incentivizing evidence-based instructional practices and prioritizing partnership with schools most in need of support.

There are six categories that schools can fall under ranging from comprehensive at the lowest mark to needs improvement, acceptable, commendable, high performing, and then exceptional.
