
Two volunteer firefighters celebrated major milestones over the past year and recently received honors from the Keota Fire Department.
Mike Detweiler celebrated his 50th anniversary with the department, while Darren Luers celebrated his 35th anniversary. Both Detweiler and Luers were given certificates honoring their service, presented by Bill Halleran on behalf of the Iowa Firefighters Association.
The Keota Fire Department has been fully staffed by volunteers since its founding in 1884. The current roster consists of 20 firefighters with over 300 years of firefighting experience, as well as seven emergency response vehicles.
