The date has been moved for the Kalona City Council’s first meeting of July.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 9, rather than Monday, when it would normally be held.

The decision was made to accommodate the holiday weekend for the Fourth of July. It was approved unanimously at the council’s June 16 meeting.

The meeting will be the first of the new fiscal year, which began on July 1, when the city’s new budget, sewer and water rates, and several ordinances including the fireworks ordinance were officially implemented.
