A boil order has been lifted for residents in rural Louisa County. Bacteria test results from Ion Environmental in Muscatine came back within safe parameters Wednesday for samples taken in the area northwest of Columbus Junction near G36 and 165th Street.
The original issue was found March 19th when residents in that area reported being without water service and a leak was present. Initial testing showed the water contained chlorine, leading Columbus Junction Public Works to believe it was a city infrastructure issue. A repair coupling failure was uncovered Monday and a water main break on a six-inch line that supplies Toddtown was repaired Tuesday.
