The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams return home tonight to face Iowa City Regina in a pair of River Valley Conference doubleheaders on the diamond. The Mid-Prairie girls are 4-5 after a 14-4 win over Tipton on Thursday in Kalona. For the year, the Hawks are hitting .391 as a group with a .536OBP and .572 slug, with 61 runs on 54 hits, 29 walks and 31Ks. Individually, Gabi Robertson and Kadence Grout are hitting .500 this year. Grout and Sophie Miller have a team best eight hits, Grout has driven in a team high eight and Miller and Dakota Mitchell have scored a team high nine times. In the circle, Grout has worked all 30 innings with a 5.37ERA, .370 opponent average, 50 hits, 23 earned runs, eight walks, and 17 strikeouts.

Iowa City Regina is 6-4 this year. The Regals were 4-2 winners against top ten Solon last time out. Regina is ranked No. 6 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Regals are hitting .292 as a team with a .382OBP and .386 slug with 61 runs on 77 hits, 39 walks and 32Ks. Avery Kies has a team best .515 average with 17 hits. Gabby Sueppel has driven in nine, and Alli Clark has scored 11 times. In the circle, the Regals have a team ERA of 2.60 with a .201 opponent average on 59 hits, 23 earned runs, 30 walks and 59 strikeouts. Reese Litton is 5-1 with a 2.06ERA. Regina has won 18 of the last 30 in the series including an 8-5 victory to start the 2024 season.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team starts the night 10-3 overall, 8-1 atop the River Valley Conference, despite a 14-4 setback at Wilton Thursday. The Hawks are ranked No. 5 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie hits .305 collectively, with a .471OBP and .393 slug. They have 94 runs on 91 hits, 79 walks and 69 strikeouts. Luke Traetow hits a team best .412, Tatem Telfer has 14 total hits and 15 driven in to lead while Brady Weber has scored 13 times. On the mound, the Mid-Prairie team ERA is 1.88 with a .179 opponent average on 51 hits, 21 earned runs, 53 walks and 108Ks. Telfer is 3-1 with a .022 opponent average, with just one hit and three earned runs allowed for an ERA of 1.37. Bowen Burmeister and Brock Harland also have multiple wins this season.

Iowa City Regina is 9-9 on the year after a loss to Iowa City West 6-5 in their last action. The Regals are hitting .297 together, with a .447 on base and a .358 slug, with 135 runs, on 146 hits, with 113 walks and 98 strikeouts. Individually, Jack Clark is at .449 with 19 runs scored and 22 hits, tied with Drew Streb for the team lead. Streb has a team best 17RBI. The Regal staff ERA is 2.54 with a .234 opponent average, on 118 hits, 43 earned runs, 70 walks and 120Ks. Connor Nicpon, Will Litton, Clark, and Dean Hanes all have two wins. Mid-Prairie has won three of the last four over Regina, but the Regals spoiled the Hawks undefeated conference title season last year with a win.
