The No. 5 in Class 2A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team saw their 20-game River Valley Conference win streak snapped on a Thursday road trip to Wilton last week. The Beavers beat the Hawks 14-4 in five innings. Wilton was hot at the plate early, scoring a pair in the first, and six more in the second, to build an 8-0 lead. Mid-Prairie got on the board with two in their half of the third, but the Beavers answered with four in bottom half to push the margin to 12-2. Wilton got one in each of the fourth and fifth innings, while the Hawks scored twice in the fifth. The Beavers out hit the Hawks 14-5 on the night, four of the Beavers hits went for extra bases, including an Owen Hassell homer on a night where he drove in three. Chaz Allison held down the Golden Hawk bats, giving up just five hits and two earned runs. Mid-Prairie is now 8-1 in RVC play, 10-3 overall, as Wilton climbs to 6-7 on the season, 5-5 in conference.
