A pair of area football teams made their way into or near the state rankings. The WACO Warriors remained inside the Associated Press Top 10 for 8-man football, moving up a spot to number two after another win, taking down English Valleys Friday 49-0, improving to 4-0. The Warriors also received a first-place vote as they prepare to take on 3-1 Iowa Valley this Friday night. Remsen St. Mary’s remains the number-one-ranked 8-man team in the state.

Meanwhile, in Class A, Columbus Community is just on the outside looking in of the top 10. The 3-0 Wildcats received votes and had the most points of any unranked team, but they missed the number-10 spot, which goes to previously-ninth-ranked Hartley HMS. Columbus, who was a 39-19 winner over Wapello last week, looks to leap into a ranked spot by beating 1-2 Lisbon Friday evening.
