A Chicago man was charged with multiple drug-related violations in Henry County. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:21 a.m. Thursday a traffic stop was performed on a 2020 GMC Acadia that was speeding on Highway 218. Sheriff’s personnel identified 29-year-old Desmond McCord as the driver and investigated the vehicle further. After a search, McCord was found to be in possession of a large quantity of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail. 

 

McCord was charged with failing to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony; possession of a controlled substance violation with intent to deliver, a class D felony; and possession of a controlled substance marijuana first offence, a serious misdemeanor. At the jail, McCord was found with contraband on his person upon entry into the jail and further charged with possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a class D felony.
