The chance to get one step closer to a district title was halted for the Highland baseball team, as their season came to a close on Tuesday when they fell to New London 9-3 on the road.

The Tigers scored in the first, second, third, and fifth inning to build a 7-1 advantage. Trevor McFarland went yard with a two-run shot in the sixth to cut the deficit to four, but a couple more New London tallies in the bottom half put the game to bed. Trevor McFarland finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and Mason McFarland also had a pair of hits for a Huskie offense that had nine knocks. Cael Yeggy tossed four innings giving up two earned runs on three hits and striking out seven. Bill Laughlin fanned four batters in his two frames on the hill.

The Huskies close the year 8-7 and bid farewell to four seniors in Yeggy, Laughlin, Mason McFarland, and Grant Colbert.
