Two people were injured after the vehicle they were in wrecked and caught fire in Henry County on Wednesday night. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 8:35 p.m. the wreck happened in the 2500 block of Racine Avenue, about 1.5 miles north of New London. The H3 Hummer was northbound on Racine Avenue and ran off the road on the east side, the driver then over-corrected and left the roadway entering the ditch. The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side and caught on fire.

Two people were injured and no names have been released. One person who was wearing a seat belt was transported by Med Force helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospital. The second person was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by Henry County Ambulance to the Henry County Health Center.

Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, and the New London Fire Department.
