The Mid-Prairie softball team opens the class 3A playoffs Wednesday when they travel to Solon to face the Spartans. The Golden Hawks come into the game with an overall record of 9-20. Last time out, the Hawks lost to rival Washington on Friday 7-4. For the season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .234 as a team, led by Cassidy Rourke with her .313 average. In the circle the Golden Hawks have a team ERA of 5.43, led by Rourke with a 4.97 ERA in 105 innings of work.

Solon comes into the game with an overall record of 21-15. The Spartans are ranked No. 11 in class 3A in the final poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In their last games, Solon fell to Albia and Southeast Polk in tournament action Friday. On the year, the Spartans are hitting .317 as a team, led by Hilary Wilson with a .417 average. In the circle the Spartans are led by Kayla West with 126 innings of work and a 13-5 overall record. These two teams last met in the 2017 playoffs when the Spartans beat the Hawks 11-1.
