The Winfield-Mt. Union boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Packwood on Tuesday and were swept by Pekin in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader.

The Pekin girls scored a 45-24 win. Things were tight in the first half with Pekin up 10-9 after one quarter and the game tied at 18 going to the half. In the third quarter the Panthers shut out the Wolves while scoring 18 on their own to open up a big lead and that was enough to secure the win. Jenna Buffington led WMU with 11 points.

In the boys contest the Panthers took a 76-24 win. Pekin outscored the Wolves 22-8 in the first quarter and 21-9 in the second to take a 43-17 lead into the break. The second half was more of the same with Pekin outscoring the Wolves 33-7 the rest of the way including 17-2 in the fourth quarter. With the loss, the Wolves fall to 0-12 on the year ahead of a trip to Wapello Friday.
