After a successful individual season, Highland’s Aly Stokes was given an honorable mention for the all-state softball team.

Stokes, a junior this season, finished the year with team-highs in hits (27), runs scored (26) and batting average (.333).  Defensively, she posted a .900 fielding percentage, 47 assists and 70 put-outs.  Head coach Carrie Wieland partially credits her team’s success to Stokes’s abilities at shortstop.

“Aly’s quick too, so when you put somebody out there with a lot of speed and her knowledge of the game- she’s just an all-around good athlete.  So putting her out there at shortstop just kind of controlled the game,” Wieland said.

Stokes will look to make an even bigger splash next year in her senior season.
