The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team travels to Washington Tuesday to take on the Lisbon Lions in the substate round of the class 1A playoffs.

IMS comes in with an overall record of 16-9. Last game IMS won the class 1A district 10 title by a 6-5 score over Burlington Notre Dame in New London Saturday. On the year, IMS is hitting .263 as a team, led by Eli Ours with his .379 average. IMS has a team ERA of 3.29, led by Drew Blauvelt with a 4-1 record and 2.33 ERA in 30 innings. IMS is looking for their first state tournament bid since 2008 and their third in program history.

Lisbon enters play with an overall record of 33-0. They are currently ranked No. 2 in class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. They are the only remaining team in Iowa, regardless of class with an unbeaten record. They captured the district nine championship Saturday with an 8-1 win over HLV. On the season the Lions are hitting .425 as a team, led by Austin Krob with his .500 average. On the mound Lisbon has a team ERA of 1.85, led by Brett Givens with a 10-0 record, and 1.05ERA in 60 innings. The Lions are looking for their seventh all-time trip to the state tournament in program history, it would be their second consecutive trip to Des Moines. These two schools last met in the 2012 playoffs with Lisbon scoring an 8-0 win.
