Five special sessions of the Washington School Board will be held this week to further narrow down the search for a new superintendent.

The meetings will all be closed sessions to interview candidates. Current Superintendent Jeff Dicks announced last month that he’d be leaving the district at the end of the school year for a position with a different school district. At their March meeting the school board discussed the sharing agreement with WACO and its future, saying it may be an option moving forward depending on the candidate selected.

The school district had 23 applicants for the job. Following these five interviews, the board will decide which two or three candidates to bring back for final interviews between April 23rd and 26th. Business manager Jeff Dieleman says the goal is to have an offer out and accepted by the end of the month.
