It was a packed house at Keota High School last night, as the Washington boys’ basketball team traveled to town for an area matchup and the Demons came out on top by a final tally of 69-59.

It was an exciting first half with both teams going back and forth and Washington held a slight 13-12 lead after the first. The Demons started to find success down low with Cale Hobscheidt and the lead grew to 37-29 at the break. In the second half the Demons looked like they were going away but a huge night from sophomore JD Stout kept the Eagles around. Down the stretch, Keota had no answer for Hobscheidt down low and the Demons hung on for the 10-point win. Hobscheidt collected a career-high 26 points in the win. Jack Redlinger added nine points before leaving the game in the third quarter with an injury. Stout finished with a game-high 29 points for Keota and Luke Greiner added 15.

With the win the Demons improve to 5-9 and the Eagles fall to 13-4. Keota will host Iowa Valley tonight for their annual homecoming game. The Demons will stay on the road traveling to Keokuk for a doubleheader.
