A $4 million project is gaining momentum in Washington County. The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a letter of support for the proposed Kalona Community Center project this week. Supervisor Stan Stoops spoke in favor and Abe Miller clarified the supervisors’ support is verbal and no money is being exchanged. The motion passed unanimously.

The special election for the $3.9 million bond vote will be held March 1st. The project includes a full sized gym, an elevator, a walking and running track and demolition of the existing gymnasium. For more information about the project click here.
