Proposed layout of the preschool wing and daycare facility, the bond covers the green and yellow portions above.

Residents of the Washington Community School District can vote early today for tomorrow’s special election regarding a preschool addition at Stewart Elementary School. Early voters may cast ballots at the Washington County Courthouse today in the auditor’s office. The $2.3 million bond would include the addition of six preschool classrooms, the demolition of Stewart West and a new drop off location for preschool students.

The bond does not include the daycare facility, which has been paid for by a gift from the Women of Washington Iowa Endowment board. Polls will also be open tomorrow from noon to 8 p.m. at the courthouse and in Brighton. Listen to KCII tomorrow evening for live results from the courthouse.

Last April, over 1,200 people turned out to vote and pass the referendum for the new auditorium project.
