Saturday evening the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a shooting and assault south of Mt. Pleasant and the investigation resulted in two arrests. At 8:40 p.m. in the 1800 grid of 265th Street authorities responded to a report of a male subject firing a shotgun in the direction of another person and a female victim was struck in the head with a baseball bat. Officers found the vehicle that had fled the scene with the suspects in the 1800 grid of Oakland Mills Road.

Nathan Cosgrove, 18-years-old of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested for intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

A 16-year-old was also detained and charged with willful injury a Class D felony and aggravated assault with display of a dangerous weapon.

Also, drug paraphernalia and evidence was located in the vehicle. The driver, 18-year-old Becca Henderson of Salem and a passenger, 20-year-old Christian Chapman of Mt. Pleasant, both face multiple charges pending for their participation.

The victim did suffer non-life threatening injuries from the asault. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was asssisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, and the Department of Corrections Parole High Risk Officer.
