In her first year as head coach, Brandi Cave helped guide the Keota Eagles to the 2014 South Iowa Cedar Conference championship by going undefeated in conference play.Cave and several Eagles players were recognized recently in the conference’s postseason awards.
Keota had three first team all-conference award winners. Headlining the group is senior Madison Sheetz, who was a unanimous first team selection as a hitter. Sheetz finished second in the league in kills (314), first on the team in aces (48), and finished third in digs (103). Junior Abby Schulte was recognized as the first team setter. Schulte finished second in the league in assists (426). Senior Callie Greiner also made first team all-conference as the squad’ libero. Greiner finished third in the conference in digs (221).
Senior Brooke Sieren was named to the all-conference second team. Senior Maggie Baker received honorable mention status from the conference coaches.
Coach Cave was recognized as the South Iowa Cedar conference volleyball coach of the year. The Keota Eagles finished the 2014 season 18-7 overall, including a perfect 10-0 South Iowa Cedar conference record.
