The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team had several student athletes recognized for their on-field performance this past season.The coaches of Class 2A’s District 5 released their all-district first team, second team, and honorable mention selections recently. Mid-Prairie had nine players receive all-district honors; four first team selections, two second team selections, and three honorable mentions.

Three of Mid-Prairie’s four first team selections were on the defensive side of the ball. Senior Jordan Ulin was selected as a first team defensive end. Ulin tied for first on the team in fumble recoveries (2), and was third on the team in total tackles (42). Junior Nolan Faselt made the squad as a linebacker. Faselt led the Golden Hawks in total tackles (50.5), was second on the team in tackles for loss (5), and accounted for two turnovers this season (one interception, one fumble recovery).  Sophomore Ricky Vargas also made first team all-district as a linebacker. Vargas was seventh on the team in total tackles (38.5), and has two takeaways this season (one interception, one fumble recovery).

Junior Caleb Runquist was the lone Golden Hawk to make the first team all-district offense. Runquist made the squad as a blocking tight end. Two Golden Hawks made the all-district second team. Junior Carson Duwa made the second squad as a linebacker. Senior Collin Weber made the second team as a wide receiver.

Mid-Prairie had three additional players be named all-district honorable mentions. They include: sophomore Levi Duwa (defensive end), senior Austin Slabaugh (running back), and junior Ryan Cortum (quarterback).

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks finished the 2014 season 4-6 overall, including a 3-3 district record.
