As the Washington City Council puts together the budget for next year, they may take on two big equipment needs. The city’s leaf-vac and the street sweeper are targeted for replacement. On Wednesday, the Washington City Council discussed the machine the city uses to collect leaves, which is basically a huge vacuum and shredder. The leaf-vac was out of commission for weeks last fall. City Administrator Brent Hinson says the expected replacement cost is around 35-thousand dollars. He says that one of the problems is that when the current machine has problems, the city cannot find support.
The draft budget also has 125-thousand dollars for replacing the city street sweeper.
