Heavy rainfall and severe weather in our nation’s capital didn’t dampen the spirits of the 87 Veterans and more than 60 guardians during yesterday’s Honor Flight. [sthumbs=4167|4181|4182,144,3,y,center]
The day which was filled with visiting different memorials throughout the city also included paying respect to fallen soldiers.
After watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns, Washington High School student Sam Ellingson took part in a wreath laying ceremony.

She says having the privilege of doing that was fun and it was a great experience.

This was the first Honor Flight featuring Vets from the Washington County area as well as Vets from the Korean War.
Everyone also received a welcome home celebration in Cedar Rapids by more than 100 people last night before traveling back to Washington.
