A public hearing was held as part of a special Washington City Council meeting last night. Several members of the public took part in the discussion regarding an Urban Revitalization Plan for the city.  This plan will last for ten years for all property in the city whether it is residential, commercial and industrial.  It will also provide a strong incentive to improve properties, build new and will help with the strategies for housing in the city.

A resolution was passed to adopt this plan and the first reading to implement an ordinance for the plan is part of next week’s meeting.  The Council also held discussion about property utility easements related to the Highland Avenue drainage improvement project.  This project includes an easement to work on correcting storm water runoff.

A bid was awarded to G & R Miller Construction of Washington.  The cost for this project is just under $19,500.  The work is scheduled to be done later this summer and will last one to two weeks.
