The real life hero of the 1993 movie “Rudy” will be in Washington this afternoon. Daniel Ruettiger will speak to 4th through 12th grade students at 1:15 at the Washington High School. Jaimee Edwards helped organize the motivational speaker event with the Lincoln Elementary School Parent/Teacher Group. She says funding from a “Change War” combined with private and business donations allowed the group to bring Daniel Ruettiger to speak to young people in the district. Ruettigger agreed to a reduced presentation fee of five-thousand dollars, including travel and lodging. The project is also being considered for a Riverboat Foundation Mini Grant of $2,000.
