Washington took on a tough field at this year’s Tigerette Girls Golf Invitational in Tipton on Friday, placing fifth at 395 strokes.

The Demons only fielded four golfers on Friday. Despite that setback, Washington had a strong showing, with Adalyn Long placing second overall at an eight-over 82. Washington received a 96 from Ashlynn Long, 99 from Lucy Sands, and a 117 from Cecelia Mitchell.

Solon were the champions at 355, with Clear Creek Amana and the host Tipton completing the podium. Washington will host the SEC Girls Golf Tournament this Wednesday, facing off against the other five teams of the Southeastern Conference.
