Tuesday, the Sigourney boys track and field team traveled to the Ruth Ahrens Relays at Iowa Valley and put on a dominant display. The Savages won the Class B team title for the second straight season.
Sigourney won eight events on the night. Double individual golds belonged to Aiden Knepper who took the 200 in 24.47 seconds and the long jump, flying 20’9”. Troy Klett dominated the distance races, winning the mile in 4:45.19 and the two mile in 10:26.69. The Savages also stole the spotlight in the throwing events with Hunter Sellers winning discus at 112’7” and Graham Moore shot put at 42’7. Relay championships included the 4×100 with Carson O’Rourke, Knepper, Levi Myers and Lance Walden in 46.96 seconds and the 4×8 with Gauge Little, Isaac Jones, Jordan Anderson and Myers in 9:37.87.
Individual runner-up events were Brayden Wood in the 400, Troy Klett in the 800 and Cole Klett in the 3200. The 4×4 with Wyatt Wehr, Wood, Little and Troy Klett, the sprint med with O’Rourke, Walden, Wehr and Wood and distance med with Myers, Sellers, Brentley Weldon Kyle and Cole Klett all finished second. The 4×2 team of O’Rourke, Knepper, Wehr and Walden were third.
