A new academy will be offered at the Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center next school year with a focus on health and movement.
The regional center has announced a brand-new opportunity for area high school students for the 2026-2027 academic year called the Exercise Science and Wellness Academy. For the first time, students in Washington County can explore careers connected to sports, fitness, health, and performance all while earning college credit.
Students will explore the science behind performance and healthy living through coursework in psychology, nutrition, sports management, and communication. Students complete four three-credit college courses. These courses are Introduction to Psychology, Nutrition, Public Speaking, and Principles of Sports Management. After the completion of the course, students earn 12 total college credits with a tuition savings of $2,652.
The Exercise Science and Wellness Academy joins nine other academies offered through Kirkwood’s College Credit in High School program at Washington County Regional Center.
