It was two wins in a South Iowa Cedar League twin bill for the Sigourney Savage boys and girls basketball teams over HLV. The Sigourney girls were a 51-34 road winner. The Savages started fast, on top 15-2 after one quarter and led 28-10 at the break. Things were even in the second half with the Warriorettes outscoring Sigourney 24-23. This week, Sigourney head coach Kaylee Weber highlighted her standouts in the win. “Brynn Clarahan had a big night and that’s pretty typical. We shared the ball pretty well that night too. Addy Fineran had a few points, Addy Tremmel came off the bench and hit some big threes for us. Charli Smothers did really well. The Gretters (Bailey/Becca) did really well too. Abyl McCulley did a good job playing defense. Ella Bruns was six of six at the free throw line. It was a total team effort.”
The win moved the Sigourney girls to 4-2 while HLV dropped to 2-4.
