The Wapello boys and girls basketball teams scored a pair of Southeast Iowa Superconference hoops wins Tuesday at Lone Tree. The Arrow girls opened the night with a 59-54 victory. Lone Tree led 10-7 after the first and 28-26 at half. Wapello outscored Lone Tree 33-26 after break for the come-from-behind win. The Arrows shot 49% to 29% for Lone Tree. The Lions won the glass 38-32, assists 9-7, steals 11-3 and turnovers 20-12. Jakayla Nelson went double double for Wapello with a 18 points and 12 rebounds. Annaka Greiner had 15 points and Macey Kuntz 14. Lone Tree got a double double from Evelyn Mueller with 11 points and rebounds. Ava Christofferson had 22 points and Finley Jacque 17. Lone Tree is 3-3 with Wapello at 3-2.
In the boys contest, Wapello was on top 49-44. The Indians led 13-8 after one and 17-14 at half. Wapello did enough down the strech to keep Lone Tree at arms length, winning the second half 32-31. Lone Tree shot 34% to the Indians 31% Wapello won the boards 34-28, assists 10-8, steals 13-7 and turnovers 19-9. Kinnick Richenberger had 11 points for the Indians. Cade Willoz and Domonic Garcia led Lone Tree with a dozen each. Reece Holbrook had eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Wapello is now 2-2 with Lone Tree at 1-3.
