The start to the conference hoops season for Keota was a success as the Eagle boys and girls swept away the visitors from Belle Plaine Tuesday in a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader. The Eagle girls rolled to a 66-22 victory. It was all Eagles from the opening tip, leading 18-6 after one and a 13-2 run put the home team ahead 31-8 at the break. Keota closed the game on a 24-4 run that spanned the full fourth quarter. The Eagles shot 35% from the floor to 27% for Belle Plaine, winning rebounds 39-26, assists 16-4, steals 28-8 and forcing 44 Plaineswomen turnovers. A trio of Keota players reached double figures led by 16 points from Jessalyn Aller, Cameron Haifley added 14 and Kennedy Jackson 12. The Eagles are 3-0 on the year as BP drops to 0-2.

Keota completed a clean sweep with a 62-29 boys win. The Eagles used runs in each of the first three quarters at 20-8, 15-4 and 18-8 to put away Belle Plaine. The Eagles shot 40% from the floor, finishing with 38 rebounds, 16 assists and 13 steals. Individual leaders included 18 points for Blake Baker, 16 for Porter Cave, 15 for Jackson Vittetoe and 11 rebounds for Ayden Galindo. Keota is 1-0 with the win and Belle Plaine now 0-2.
