Main Street Washington is gearing up for Pink Friday to end this week. Many downtown and local businesses will be participating.
Main Street Washington Executive Director Samantha Meyer explains the event, “Pink Friday started about three or four years ago, it’s a pretty relatively new celebration I guess, and it’s kind of a shop small to combat to Black Friday. So, it’s really just a shop local first or at least look local first. So, this is just our way of saying, ‘Hey, we are going to have this really fun Friday, we are going to serve you these pink fun drinks. But it’s going to be beautiful and fun, and we are going to have some exclusive sales and drawings throughout the day for you. Just please come look at us first at least.’”
New this year for the Pink Friday shopping experience, participating retailers will have flower stems available with any purchase, so shoppers will leave their Pink Friday experience with a festive bouquet.
Shopping locally not only impacts the stores, for every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S., approximately 67 cents stay in the local community.
