Coletrane Sipes

A Louisa County man charged with felony stalking has filed a plea of guilty. According to court records, Coletrane Sipes filed a written plea of guilty for a charge of aggravated misdemeanor stalking. The plea agreement states he will pay an $855 fine, court costs, and has a 90-day jail sentence with all but 30 days suspended. A no contact order was extended five years and he will be under probation for two years. In addition, his teaching license will be surrendered.

Sipes was arrested in January and was originally charged with class C felony stalking. According to court records, a custodian at Columbus Junction schools found a phone hidden in the school with a battery pack attached to it. It was determined that the phone belonged to Sipes, a substitute teacher at the time, and he was “engaging in conduct directed at a student that would cause that person to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, or threatened.”

Sipes is currently serving his 30 day sentence in the Louisa County Jail.
