The Washington Demon volleyball team finished the weekend tournament portion of their schedule Saturday with a trip to Pella. Washington played five matches on the day winning one. Their victory was over Holy Trinity Catholic, by scores of 21-18 and 21-15. Other matches included losses to Grinnell 21-18 and 21-10, No. 7  in 5A West Des Moines Valley 21-9 and 21-6, Knoxville 21-11 and 21-12 and the home No. 3 in Class 4A Dutch 21-17 and 21-9. Stat-leaders on the day for Washington included 34 assists and 20 digs for Reagan Miller. Leighton Messinger with 26 kills and three aces. Ellie Farmer with 23 digs and two aces. Taylor Miksch with 20 kills and Carys Miller with 19 assists. Washington is back on the floor tonight when they host Columbus for Senior Night. The Demons are 20-13 entering play, finishing 9-1 in the Southeast Conference. This year Washington has 1135 digs, 864 kills, 810 assists, 10th most in Class 3A, 160 aces and 145 blocks. Active leaders include Reagan Miller with 451 assists and 50 aces, seventh in 3A, Leighton Messinger with 281 kills, eighth in 3A, Ellie Farmer with 276 digs, and Lauren Drahota with 26 blocks.

The Columbus Wildcats are 10-14 this year, 7-1 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference, winners of four straight including a four set win at home on Senior Night over Hillcrest Academy Tuesday. This year the Wildcats have 957 digs, 441 kills, 409 assists, 169 aces and 53 blocks. Active individual leaders include Daniela Diaz with 363 assists, Jocelyn Hernandez with 267 digs, Jessica Del Rio with 142 kills, Kennedy Woepking with 38 aces and 18 blocks for Hailey Wellington.

The Demons have won nine-in-a-row in the series including a four set victory last year. Washington will honor five seniors Thursday including Carys Miller, Lily Brown, Taylor Miksch, Leighton Messinger and Addison Miller. Action starts tonight at 7:15p.m. At the Demon Den.
