The Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team scored a signature win Friday on Senior Night at the Snake Pit, downing Durant 44-14. The Cobras led 14-7 after one and stretched the lead to 28-7 with pair of second quarter scores. SK added on 16 points after half. This week, Cobra head coach Jared Jensen joined the KCII Radio Coaches Corner to talk about his team’s performance. “We talked all week about how this game was for a home playoff game. You have to go out, you have to want it, and they responded. We came out and played the brand of football we know we can play. I feel really happy for our guys. Seniors on Senior Night go out on a high note. We’ll give our backs credit for running the ball but our offensive line has continued to get better. Durant brought some extra bodies in the box and our guys still dominated the line of scrimmage. We set the tone early there. Ike Molyneux had a huge night. (On defense) man, we flew around and got guys to the ball. They had a heck of a night. We stopped their run game DeLong never really got going. The D-line, edge backers, inside backers, all did a fantastic job. After they scored a touchdown in the first half, how would our guys respond? Well, we responded with a 92-yard kick return for touchdown by Carson O’Rourke. It takes a team to do what we do. Probably the most complete performance we have had all year long. All three phases it was our best game of the year.”

SK won total yards 337-208, including 279-78 on the ground. The Snakes won turnovers 1-0. Individual leaders included Ike Molyneux with 30 carries 225 yards and four touchdowns. Brayden Wood completed a pair of passes for 58 yards and a touchdown, both to Ayden Galindo. Jacob Libe led the defense with nine tackles and Carson O’Rourke had a 92 yard kick return for touchdown and an interception. The Snakes are now 3-4 on the year and 3-1, second place alone in 1A District 6, and clinch a playoff berth, as Durant falls to 4-3 and 2-2 in third place. The Cobras recognized nine seniors including Aydin Flowers, Jacob Libe, Brayden Wood, John Berg, Wells Clark, Cael Jaeger, Owen Menke, Aydin Parker, and Ty Goldman.
