
Four people were injured and one person died following a two-vehicle wreck south of Conesville Thursday. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the collision happened at 5:53 a.m. near the T-intersection of Highway 70 and 277th Street.
The two drivers involved were 53-year old Kristie Thompson of Lone Tree and 26-year old Damelonin Lamboni of Conesville. The Iowa State Patrol reports that Thompson’s Explorer was southbound on Highway 70 when for an unknown reason it crossed the center line and hit head-on a Chevrolet Cruz heading northbound on the highway.
The Cruz left the road, rolled, and came to rest in the ditch where it became fully engulfed. Three of the four occupants were able to get out of the vehicle. Assistance at the scene was provided by the Conesville Fire Department, Columbus Junction Ambulance and Fire Department, Letts Ambulance, Nichols Fire Department, Wapello Ambulance, Washington Ambulance, and AirCare.
Thompson and three people who had been in the Cruz were transported to the University of Iowa Hospital. The three injured in the Cruz were all in their 20s.
The name of the deceased has not been released.
