
Columbus Junction’s annual Columbus Day celebration will be held on Saturday. The celebration, which comes ahead of the Federal holiday on Monday, honors several local residents as outstanding citizens and honors the people of the city each year.
The outstanding citizen awards will be presented at 11 a.m. The annual parade is taking place on Saturday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the High School, travel down Gamble and Second Streets before turning onto Maple and concluding on Main. Other activities at the Columbus Day celebration will include a Lions’ Club breakfast, car show, tractor show, face painting, photo booth, pedal pull, balloon art, bounce house, live music, bags tournament, pumpkin toss and a raffle.
All activities will be on Main Street in Columbus Junction.
Road closures and detours have been set for local traffic on Highway 92. The Saturday detour includes rerouting traffic around Columbus Junction using Highway 218, Highway 22, and Highway 70.
