The defending champion Washington Demon volleyball team entered the chat with a vengeance Monday at day one of the Southeast Conference Tournament at Burlington High School. The top seeded Demons took care of business in straight sets against their three opponents on the night, beating Mount Pleasant 27-25 and 25-20, Fort Madison 25-7 and 25-11 and Keokuk 25-19 and 25-13. Leading ladies for the Demons were Reagan Miller with 38 assists and seven aces, Carys Miller with 25 assists, Leighton Messinger with 25 kills, 16 digs and four blocks, Ellie Farmer with 23 digs, Taylor Miksch with 19 kills, and Layla Green with nice aces and four blocks. Washington has now won nine-in-a-row overall to improve to 18-8 and an unbeaten 8-0 in the Southeast Conference. The Demons are off until a weekend trip to the Pella Tournament.
