Fall is here and the City of Washington Maintenance and Construction Department will begin leaf pick up October 13th. 

They will begin in the northwest quadrant of the City, moving in a counter-clockwise direction. The leaf vac program will continue until November 26th. Residents may place leaves in the terrace area between the sidewalk and the street. Do not place leaves in the street as this creates drainage and traffic hazards. The leaf Vac will pick up leaves only.  It will not pick up grass clippings or piles containing trash and sticks, which can cause mechanical issues with the equipment.

Leaves and tree trimmings can also be hauled to the Waste Water Treatment Plant and Yard Waste Center located at 1065 West Buchanan Street. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays, on October 18th and 25th.
