The Washington Demon boys and girls cross country teams will look to put on a show for the home fans tonight at the Washington Golf and Country Club for their annual home meet.
The Demons were last in action September 22nd at Solon, where the girls were sixth as a team and the boys seventh, led by third place finishes each for Iris Dahl and Andrew Rees. Those two are both ranked in this week’s individual Class 3A poll from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches with Dahl No. 17 for the girls and Rees No. 20 for the boys.
The WACO Warriors will also be in action tonight at Washington. The Warrirors last ran eight days ago at Mount Pleasant where the boys were small school team champs with their score of 48 points, led by individual champ Jude Dykstra. The WACO girls had Josie Dykstra leading the way in third. In this week’s 1A team poll, the Warrior boys are fifth, in the individual rankings, Jude Dykstra is sixth for the boys Josie Dykstra is 24th for the girls.
Highland last competed at Saturday’s grade race hosted by the Pekin Panthers where Grace Bombei and Aubrey Hahn were second in their girls races and Kyler Fink was fifth to lead the boys.
Keota’s last competition was Belle Plaine where Hunter Grandstaff led the boys in 17th.
Lone Tree ran at Muscatine a week ago where both teams finished in fourth, led by Brock Nebergall for the boys in eighth and Addy Eiben for the girls in 14th.
Those local teams will be joined tonight by Burlington, Fairfield, the No. 5 Fort Madison girls and their No. 14 boys, Keokuk, and Marion.
Action starts tonight at 4:30p.m. At the Washington Golf and Country Club.
