The City of Riverside’s annual sewer jetting will begin on Monday, impacting residents in the southern and western portions of the city.

The jetting is an annual blockage prevention measure undertaken by the city. Affected residents are asked to keep their toilet seats closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays from September 29 through October 7.

Sewer jetting is a process in which water is propelled from manhole to manhole under high pressure in order to clear debris. The increased pressure can cause toilets and drains to bubble and possibly splash during the process.
